As the temperatures Plummet, we are seeing a significant increase in generator fault codes and unexpected shutdowns. In extreme cold, your generator’s oil thickens like molasses. This makes it incredibly difficult for internal parts to move freely, often leading to 'Overcrank' fault codes." or "Low Oil Pressure" errors right when you need power the most.
Most of these winter failures are preventable. To ensure your backup power remains reliable during a winter storm, your system likely requires a Cold Weather Kit.
Our Cold Weather Kits include the following essential upgrades, each kit is customizable for your model and features these critical components to keep your system running smoothly through the winter:
- Oil Heaters: Providing essential assistance with optimal engine temperature.
- Regulator Heaters: Several kits include fuel regulator heaters, though not all models need them. This keeps a critical fuel system component from freezing up!
- Crankcase Breather Heater: This is an incredibly important heater that keeps the PCV valve from freezing closed which in turn causes excessive crankcase oil pressure potentially causing oil seals to blow or a gummed up carburetor.
- Peace of Mind: Knowing your generator will start when you need it most.
We offer kits for both Kohler and Generac generators. We want to make sure you're prepared before the flakes start falling. Because of the winter weather outlook, our stock of Kohler and Generac cold weather kits are limited. We are prioritizing installations on a first-come, first-served basis.
